When first searching for an easy diapering option we came across the g Diaper. At the time it was only a flushable diapering option, but now the g Diaper has evolved to include a cloth inner option. We loved the idea – something in between both worlds. First a system with a lower environmental impact inner – flushable, compost, or toss! Now g Diaper has added a new option for us cloth diaper lovers – gCloth. I must say we were intrigued.

The little gPant is a soft cotton outer diaper pant that is very breathable with a snap-in made of breathable polyurethane coated nylon. Now what you decide to place inside the snap-in nylon liner is what makes this diaper so versatile. You may use a flushable inner made of all natural fiber and is 100% biodegradable or you can us a cloth insert either of the gCloth brand or there are many other natural fiber inserts that will lay right inside your nylon inner.

The Fit: We used a size medium little gPant on our 20 lb Megan (recommended weight range 13-28lbs) paired with the medium/large biodegradable gRefills. The fit of the gPant was snug at the legs and waist, but comfortable she did not have any red markings left by the diaper. The most important piece of the puzzle is when putting the gPant on… keep your eyes on the seal the nylon inner is making with your baby’s legs. You want to make sure that the nylon inner comes into contact all around the leg because this is the seal stopping leaks from coming through. The little gPant is there to keep that in place. If you think of it this way, you will have good luck with the diaper. We went the entire 4-day trial patch without a leak to the cotton little gPant and we several very loose poops…. So this Mom was very happy. The one thing that threw me off with use (I am a regular Fuzzi Bunz user) was that the pant fastens to the back & not to the front, which took a little getting used to.

The Inner: We went the entire 4-day trial patch without a leak to the little gPant, but on 3 of the poops we did have a tiny amount that touched the nylon snap in piece. Washing the vinyl inner was a piece of cake in the sink where we stayed, I hung it over the shower curtain bar & it was dry in 5-10 minutes. The flushable inners were easy to rip in two as I held them over the toilet so that any ‘toppings’ fell into the bowl & not onto the surrounding areas. I then separated the two halves & carefully shook out the fillings into the bowl. Tossed the rest in, gave it several swirls around with the little g swizzle stick, and flushed. I must say that I have heard several complaints of stopped up toilets, but following these instructions I had not a 1 clogged toilet the entire weekend so I was a very happy Mommy. The flushable inner even lasted an 8-hour night on my one year old, so I was also happy with absorption.

How to dispose of your biodegradable soaker pads:
Compost
Remove any solid matter and compost in your garden. Compostable to EU and USA composting standards.
Dispose
Biodegradable soaker pads are plastic-free, they will break down in a landfill in 50-150 days (Disposables take up to 500 years).
Flush
You can flush your soaker pads. Simply tear open your pad and empty the core contents into the toilet. Throw outer away.
